USSPA hosted a farewell luncheon reception for Mr. Ned Quistorff, Chief Commercial Officer, U.S. Consulate General, Guangzhou, at New Dynasty Scenic Restaurant, Hong Kong. The event was attended by 13 members and alumni. Mr. Quistorff will be taking up new U.S. Department of Commerce assignment at the APAC office in Seattle.

USSPA participated at the SME Market Day organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event featured a wide array of products and services targeting at SMEs, provided by all relevant trade & service sectors and was well attended by banks & finance companies, accounting firms, lawyers, IT companies, industry & trade support organizations, government departments and associations. USSPA and members’ materials and publications were on display. 117 business leads were generated for the following participating members:
Georgia Ports Authority, State of Illinols, State of Iowa, Port of Long Beach, Port of Los Angeles, Port of New York and New Jersey, State of North Carolina, State of Ohio, South Carolina State Ports Authority, and Port of Tacoma.

Hon. Tsang Yok-Sing (曾鈺成), Chairman of Democratic Alliance for Betterment of Hong Kong, also Councilor of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Legislative Council, discussed the political and economic outlook in Hong Kong at the USSPA's luncheon at the American Club. Ten members attended. Bi-monthly meeting was held after the luncheon.

Mr. Steward Ballard, Director and Senior Commercial Officer, U.S. Commercial Liaison Office for the Asian Development Bank, Manila visited USSPA and discussed business opportunities in ADB projects for U.S. manufacturers and consultants.

A tour to "Mai Po" Marshes Nature Reserve in the New Territories was organized and attended by 29 members, families and alumni.

Members of USSPA including Ohio, Illinois and FCS hosted a dinner for Ms. Cleo Alday, Senior Commercial Specialist, USFCS, Manila.

USSPA hosted a half-day seminar on "Doing Business in the U.S." at the Hong Kong Riverside Hotel to 88 participants of the Chinese Senior Management Training Class sponsored by Chiang's Industrial Charity Foundation of Hong Kong. The senior executives from various industries in China were selected by the State Council in Beijing. Participating members were California, Georgia Port, Illinois, Long Beach and Ohio with guest speakers from Momentum (Asia) Ltd., and Lingnan University.

Upon request, the Executive members of USSPA gave a briefing on "Hong Kong's Role in China Trade" to 40+ members of the Wisconsin Rural Leadership Program at the Jumbo Floating Restaurant, Hong Kong.

USSPA and Hong Kong Trade Development Council co-hosted the "Buying, Selling, Investing and Partnering with the U.S." seminar. The half-day program was over-subscribed by 150 Hong Kong and Chinese executives and covered by local television station. Participating members included:

USSPA hosted a luncheon meeting with Ms. Katherine Houghton, Senior Commercial Officer, FCS, US Consulate General in Shanghai at the Bei Shou Restaurant. 7 members attended.

USSPA hosted a dinner meeting with Hon. Martin Lee (李柱銘), Chairman of Hong Kong Democratic Party and Hon. Chung-Kai Sin (單仲偕), Legislator, Hong Kong Legislative Council at The American Club. The program was attended by 11 members. The USSPA annual election meeting was held before the dinner reception. The present executive line-up Norman Li, Shirley Co and Edward Yau were re-elected as the President, Vice President and Treasurer- Ports co-ordinator.

USSPA Christmas Dinner Party was held at the Tai Hei Hing Shark Fin Restaurant, Causeway Bay and attended by 13 members and staff.

Norman Li, representing the USSPA, attended the Liaoning Product Exhibition & Economic Cooperation Conference in Shenzhen, China, hosted by Governor Bo Xi-Lai.

USSPA hosted a luncheon honoring Mr. Lee Boam, Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs, US Embassy, Beijing at Beishou Seafood Restaurant. 8 members attended.

USSPA delegation visited Macau. Held meetings with Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Macau World Trade Center, Macau Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Macau Import & Export Association and Macau Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Associations. Ms. Christina Leong, Deputy Director of Macau Department of Financial Services also attended the luncheon meeting with participating members: Illinois, Port of Long Beach, and Port of Los Angeles, Ohio and Tacoma.

USSPA organized a luncheon meeting with Hon. James Tien (田北俊), Chairman of Liberal Party at the American Club. 13 members and alumni participated the luncheon. Bimonthly meeting was held after the luncheon.

USSPA participated in the China Shunde International Exposition for Household Electrical Appliances Exhibition. Participating members included Iowa, Ohio, Illinois, Port of Long Beach, and Port of Los Angeles. A meeting with Shunde Economic and Trade Bureau was also held.

USSPA organized a luncheon meeting with Mr. Liu Guo Yuan (劉國元), Executive Chairman of COSCO Hong Kong Group at The American Club. The luncheon was attended by 20 members and alumni. Bimonthly meeting was held after the luncheon.
